1. Who Should I Contact?

Phone Numbers to Use for Police Dispatch / Police Department

Emergency

If there is an immediate emergency threat to life or property, dial 911. Emergencies include:

• Any urgent/emergent medical or fire situation
• Any in-progress crime, suspicious activity, or any time a person fears for their safety or the safety of others
• If you are not sure if your situation is an emergency, you are encouraged to call 911.

When you call 911, be prepared to answer the call-taker’s questions, which may include:

• The location of the emergency, including the street address and/or landmarks
• The phone number of calling party
• The nature of the emergency
• Details about the emergency, such as a physical description of a person who may have committed a crime, a description of any fire that may be burning, or a description of injuries or symptoms being experienced by a person requiring urgent medical attention

Non-Emergency

For non-emergencies, call our dispatch center, SNO911, at 425-407-3999. Non-emergencies include:

• Non-violent crime that occurred earlier and there is no suspect information (online crime reporting is available)
• Situations where emergency services personnel are needed but there is no immediate danger to life or property

To report a power outage, call Snohomish County Public Utility District at 425-783-1001.

2. How can I file a police report?

Police reports are handled by the jurisdiction where the crime/incident occurred, or if that is not known, by the jurisdiction where you live. To file a report:

• If the crime/incident occurred in Snohomish County, please call 911 or, for non-emergencies, 425-407-3999.
• If you don’t know where the incident occurred, such as cyber crimes, fraud and/or identity thefts, and you live in Snohomish County, please call 911 or 425-407-3999.
• If the crime/incident occurred on Camano Island, please call the Island County Communications Center (ICOM) at 360 629-2224.
• If you don’t know where the incident occurred, such as cyber crimes, fraud, and/or identity thefts, and you live on Camano Island, please call ICOM at 360 629-2224.
• If the crime/incident occurred outside our area, please call the law enforcement agency that covers that area.

3. How can I get a copy of my police report?

Requests for Stanwood police records can be made in person or by email, fax, or phone. We prefer receiving requests in writing. To assist us in locating your documents, please provide us with as much information as possible. Download the Police Records Request Form (PDF).

4. How can I get a clearance letter?

If you live in the city limits, contact our office by phone at 425-388-5290 or by email, present valid identification, and fill out a Police Records Request Form (PDF). If you do not live in the city limits, contact the law enforcement agency for the jurisdiction in which you live.

6. Who do I call for ticket/infraction information?

If your ticket was issued by the Stanwood Police Department, call our office for information at 425-388-5290. You must respond to your notice by choosing one of the three options and turning in your copy, signed, within 15 days. Your copy must be received at:

7. How can I get a court order?

A court order can only be obtained through the courts. This includes:

• Anti-Harassment Orders
• No Contact Orders
• Protection Orders
• Restraining Orders

8. Does the Stanwood Police Department serve court orders?

Stanwood Police only serves Domestic Violence Protection Orders, Restraining Orders, and Anti-Harassment orders. We do not serve other civil court documents.

9. Who handles animal control in the City?

Please call 425-407-3999 for animal problems in the City. Dispatch will advise a Stanwood Deputy, who will determine what next steps need to be taken. The City does contract with Snohomish County Animal Control, but only for very limited items. Therefore, all animal issues first go through the on-duty Deputy.

10. How do I submit a crime tip?

If you believe you have information about a crime or case within the city of Stanwood, please 425-407-3999 or report online. In unincorporated Snohomish County, call their tip line at 425-388-3845.
