Storefront Improvement Program

The City of Stanwood has a rich history, with many historic and unique buildings, housing many of our locally owned businesses in the downtown commercial retail area. The Storefront Improvement Program seeks to preserve and enhance the charm of the downtown commercial retail area, while also encouraging investment in downtown, through visual and physical improvements to storefront buildings. The Storefront Improvement Program will assist with our economic development efforts, city beautification efforts, and to follow our comprehensive plan goals.

Project Vision:

The intent of the Storefront Improvement Program to preserve and enhance the charm of the downtown commercial retail area by encouraging private investment, through physical improvements, to building storefronts. This program is designed to support the city’s economic development and tourism goals and policies as adopted by the Stanwood City Council.

Goals:

• Preserve and beautify the downtown district.
• Encourage and stimulate investment in private property.
• Foster community ownership and commitment to revitalization.

The City of Stanwood is now accepting applications for the Storefront Improvement Program for 2023. Please note, a PRE-APPLICATION MEETING with the City is required before an application can be submitted. Please contact Sarah Cho at Sarah.Cho@Stanwoodwa.org to schedule a meeting.

The next round of grant application reviews are due on April 7, 2023 by 5:00PM.
