Board members are appointed by the Mayor with Council approval and are made up of seven voting members. Members represent the business community within the boundaries of the Stanwood/Camano School District and serve staggered terms.

Overview
The Economic Development Board was established by Resolution 2014-04 (PDF) to provide a voice on issues such as economic development incentives, tourism, special events, and support for local businesses. The Board’s responsibilities include:
- Provide a communication link between the City and the business community.
- Advise the City on implementation of the Economic Development Work Program.
- Advise the City on a business perspective on a range of policy issues such as capital planning, zoning amendments, and land use policy plans.
- Advise the City on grant applications for:
- Small capital projects grants benefiting Stanwood Downtown
- Special events grants that benefit Stanwood
