2024 Comprehensive Plan Update
Communities planning under the Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA) are required to update their comprehensive plans every eight years The City of Stanwood is required by RCW 36.70A.130 to update their Comprehensive Plan by June 30, 2024. It is the City’s hope that the 2024 Comprehensive Planning process will generate community excitement and lead to new investment in the City while preserving its historic character. The goal of the update is that the Comprehensive Plan provides an effective means to achieve renewed community vitality that can support Stanwood residents for many years to come.

2015 Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plan for Stanwood is intended to guide future decisions related to land use, city development, transportation, housing, capital facilities, and utilities through the year 2035. The plan was developed in compliance with the Washington Growth Management Act (GMA), which establishes planning goals to guide the development and adoption of comprehensive plans within the State.

Transportation Plan
The Transportation Plan provides the framework to guide the growth and development of the City’s transportation infrastructure. It also integrates land use and the transportation network by ensuring that all existing and future developments are adequately served by the system. While the automobile-related transportation network needs provide the core of the system, the Plan also addresses the development of a balanced, multi-modal transportation network for the City, and adjacent Urban Growth Area (UGA).
